The situation continues to develop in Haiti and concerned citizens from countless countries are still doing all they can to aid the suffering Haitian people.  Atlantans are no exception and the city's own World Chamber of Commerce and the Dean of its Consular Corps, Ambassador Reda Mansour, were proud to honor two of the many Atlantans doing their part for Haiti this past Friday.

Ambassador Reda Mansour, Consul General of Israel, presented the World Chamber of Commerce International Heroes Award on behalf of the Chamber, its President Solange Warner, Chamber E.C. Member Richard Summers, and the more than 60 countries of the Atlanta Consular Corps to Atlantans Joesph Verlus and Scott Dorfman.  The event was covered throughout Atlanta by three of the cities major television networks, as well as across Georgia via radio.

The entire Atlanta community paid tribute to Dr. King this past weekend, taking the time to honor arguably the city's most laudable son.  Ambassador Reda Mansour, Consul General of Israel to the Southeast and Dean of the Atlanta Consular Corps, was on hand to celebrate the life of the late civil rights leader almost as beloved in Israel as he is in America.

As part of an initiative to foster cooperation between African Americans and Jews, U.S. Consul General of Israel to the Southeast Reda Mansour was inducted into the Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Sponsors at historically black Morehouse College on April 2.

The ceremony was part of Morehouse's Science and Spiritual Awareness Week. It marked the public launch of the Rabin-King Initiative, named for Israel's late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Morehouse alumnus Martin Luther King Jr., two men who were committed to peace, and who were both struck down before their time because of their beliefs
